Agricultural Economics

About us

The Agricultural Economics Department addresses critical issues related to resources, the environment, and food, which are essential for human existence. To research and educate on these challenges, our department employs a multidisciplinary approach, focusing primarily on economics within the social sciences, but also incorporating historical science, ethics, and geographic information science. Our research and education extend beyond Japan to include agricultural practices in Asia and Africa. The mission of our department is to develop sustainable agricultural production systems and social structures. We aim to scientifically devise policies, institutions, and community systems that support and sustain the biosphere.
