About us
The Biological Chemistry course consists of seven laboratories: Plant Nutrition, Molecular Biochemistry, Enzymology, Applied Microbiology, Applied Bioorganic Chemistry, Plant Cell Biochemistry, and Fungal Biotechnology, and plays a central role in biotechnology and life science education and research in our department.
Based on chemistry and biology, our courses cover a wide range of teaching and research areas. such as
- Elucidation of the control mechanisms of biological phenomena related to agriculture
- Elucidation of the structure and function of substances produced by living organisms
- Development and application of potential biological functions of living organisms
Our research interests are,
- Plants (such as rice)
- Animals (including humans)
- Microorganisms (bacteria, yeast, yeast, etc.)
- and their production of useful biopolymers and bioactive organic compounds
- and the useful biopolymers and bioactive organic compounds they produce.
Our goal is to understand the nature of biological phenomena and functions at gene/protein, and molecular/atomic levels, using state-of-the-art technologies in genomics, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genetic engineering, protein engineering, synthetic organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry.
Interaction between undergraduate and graduate students as well as between laboratories is very active, and everyone enjoys an active and proactive research life.
